Our Awesome Team of Experts, Coaches, and Creators

Marc is FliP U’s Chief Insight Officer, and one interesting guy! He grew up as he says, “surrounded by rats in cages, bearded academics, strong female role models and psychedelic iconography,” as the son of parents who were hippies and PhD psychologists. Though he dreamed of being a theoretical physicist or one of the Beatles, his path in life keeps pulling him back to his love of learning.
Marc has Masters degrees in math and physics, an MBA, and a PhD in neuroscience. He’s always trying to help others learn and bring out the best in themselves. Marc teaches entrepreneurship at the University of Waterloo, acts and directs community theatre, is a poet, and an avid pinball player. He is also co-author of the best-seller Leadership is Half the Story: A Fresh Look at Followership, Leadership, and Collaboration.

Sam is FliP U’s Chief Encouragement Officer, though, you could argue that she is one of the world’s chief encouragers, offering heartfelt encouragement to everyone she meets! Sam spent her childhood creating: costumes, surprise parties, science fair projects, speeches, stories and crafts. In high school, her assertiveness flourished as she organized sit-ins and petitioned for girls to be allowed to take wood shop instead of cooking. So naturally, Sam grew up to be an Accountant.
But this oddly creative and assertive accountant soon discovered her true passion: developing people. Sam is a sought-after leadership and followership coach, consultant and CPA with years of corporate and executive experience to boot! She enjoys helping people discover their “aha” and “ahhh” moments. Sam also co-authored the best-selling Leadership is Half the Story: A Fresh Look at Followership, Leadership, and Collaboration.

Ginny is FliP U’s Chief Course Curator and a fervently creative thinker, rebel and risk-taker. She grew up in Mallorca, Spain and as an adolescent, her independent thinking led her towards political activism. By the time she had moved to Canada to complete her BA in Political Science and Peace and Conflict Studies, she was working on ending violence against women, supporting anti-poverty initiatives, and advocating for immigrant and refugee rights. She had also been arrested in three different countries – olé!
While Ginny thrived as a speaker and critical thinker, she was becoming disillusioned by the limited effect of her political efforts. So, she decided to complete a Master’s of Science in Creativity at Buffalo State, which led her into deeper study of Creative Leadership and Creative Problem Solving. Now, Ginny creates online learning that helps better human relationships and organizations. She also lectures at Wilfred Laurier University, is an organizational trainer, consultant and collaboration coach.

Joan is FliP U's Director of Connecting the Dots. This job title makes perfect sense because the role of a coach is to help the coachee connect the dots between behaviour and outcomes, and between learning and actions, and to encourage “AHA” moments for the coachee. At FliP U, we care deeply about the learners in our programs and coaching is an integral part of building new skills.
Joan's capstone project in her Masters in Leadership focused on Followership and she is a Registered Corporate Coach. This combination means she can really support our learners. Joan gently pushes and pulls everyone along through the courses and is their personal cheerleader.
She absolutely loves the conversations created in the courses and helping learners find the genius in themselves and those they lead.

Kym is FliP U’s Art Director. She is a highly expressive visual designer who loves to solve creative problems. Kym brings life and personality to our stories through graphic design, animation, sound editing, and brand interpretation. With her creative flare and distinct touches. Kym makes FliP U look and sound good!

Monica is FLiP's part-time from Conestoga College where she's finishing up her final year in the Bachelor of Design program. She works on a variety of tasks including illustration, editorial, and motion graphics to bring life to 2D imagery. With her creative input she adds the extra level of wow-factor that makes FliP U stand out!

Mel is FliP U’s Director of Brand, Buzz and Bits. She works with the founders to interpret and tease out the best bits from all of the wonderful ideas that form after having so many generative thinkers working together. She then collaborates with Kym to package these and share them with the world!
